Hair Talk

When it comes to hair care I have my routine set in stone due to thankfully finding my holy grail products that work for me. Hair care for me is just as important as skin care and I think it should be the same for you!

Let’s start with my absolutely tragic hair history to give you a background on why I find hair care so important (let’s just say you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone). So in early 2012 bottle blonde was in and natural brown was out. I did what it seemed every fresh 18 at the time did and scalp bleached my locks till they were as white (or looking back yellow) as humanly possible. This look seemed to have carried me right through to 2014 where by this stage my yellow locks had given up over the years and my head was full of extensions (which then extensions were cool I swear).

By mid-2014 I was legitimately forced to cut all remaining extensions out as I hardly had any hair left from the bleach and lack of hair care over the years so I decided to take control. I went to the hair dressers with the uneven, bronzed glowing, ratty locks I had left and told her to chop. I left with a light brown hair, blunt cut all one length up to my ears… and yes this is no word of a lie please see evidence below.

October 2014 I took control and gave my locks the attention it deserved. I started washing it once a week (Fridays) so it could get its natural oils back to help it grow, I stopped straightening it, threw my extensions away and I started using Argan oil. From 2014-2015 I saw a DRAMATIC change in my hairs length, shine and strength. Even though during this period of my life I wanted to hide under a rock it was all worth it in the end.

With it being July 2016 now and my hair happy, healthy and almost being at boob covering length I want to tell you my current hair routine. So for starters I wash my hair every 3 days and I only straighten/ blow dry it on the first day after washing. By the third day it’s starting to get a little how you going so by throwing it up in a semi stylish bun really does the job.

It has taken me a while to really find a shampoo and conditioner that I love. My hair is quite oily and these babies work perfect for me. They leave my hair feeling like silk and light to touch. I use the shampoo all over with massaging into scalp and I use the conditioner just on my ends.

To treat my hair before washing: Organic Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil – $6.50  and Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Treatment – $17.99

Organic Unrefined Virgin Coconut OilOgx Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Intense Moisturising Treatment 237 mL

This is my holy grail of hair care. Put around 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in a little mixing bowl followed by around 1 and a half teaspoons of the treatment and mix together. Apply to your dry hair all over making sure to massage into your roots (coconut oil promotes hair growth) and once this is done get a large tooth comb and run through your locks. I like to put my hair in a braid to lock it all while I sleep, then wash out in the morning.

After wash care: Moroccanoil Treatment- $39.95

Morccanoil

I love this product because I feel it gives your hair that little bit of extra care after washing. I use around a 5c piece size (1 pump) and run through my ends. I leave in and wait around 10 minutes until I blow dry my hair to let it really soak in.

xx Briana
